Resolve to Know NothingReaching Others
1 Corinthians 2:2 “For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified”
I did not come to love and know God because of a great answer to a difficult question. No-one proved to me that God was real and living, no-one convinced me to believe in him through logic and understanding…I came to love and know him because I experienced his power. I remember making the decision to give my life to Jesus at seven years old and receiving such a great feeling of joy and peace. I really encountered his presence as I gave my life to him.
1 Corinthians 2:4 “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power”
Many non-Christians want us to provide them with the answers for life, to explain our logic and reasoning and convince them to believe in God. They want to see some infallible evidence before they commit anything. But that is not the way God intended salvation to work, he did not intend for people to get saved on logic and understanding, but on faith and humility. That is why when Paul preached to the Gentiles, he resolved to know nothing except Christ crucified.
Resolve to know nothing…except Christ crucified.
That’s why your testimony is a powerful thing, because it is a demonstration of God’s power. Your life resolves to know one thing, in that it has encountered the living God and has changed for the better. Your life is practical evidence that God is real and living and in the business of changing lives. Alongside that it is good to admit that you do not know everything, that you do not understand everything in the Bible and that you still have questions about life, because it shows that your faith is grounded in your experience of God. You may not a lot but you know one thing; that Christ died and your life has changed because of it!
