#3 – Stewards
As Christians we have all been given a responsibility to represent God. We are all his ambassadors, his stewards of the word in this world. As a servant rises to become a steward, more trust and responsibility is given to him. He has shown he his faithful with his work, and that he does it for more than just the wages.
We are stewards of God. We serve because we want to.
In scripture, as servants/slaves reached the end of their contract they were given a choice to stay with the owner. If they chose to stay because of the goodness of the owner, they had a custom to nail the servants ear lobe to the door post. This was to show that they were binded to the owner as a steward of his house. Our motive for serving God is not just because have to, or that we are rewarded, but because we just want to!
