Rend your Heart (2/2)Daily Thoughts
Job 1:20 “At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship”
When God brings a new situation or opportunity into our lives, we may want to bring our own desires with us, however God wants us to think and feel the way he does, despite the situation.
In scripture, people often rendered their garments in times of great distress and anguish, as their situations were overtaking them. God was drawing them through a negative experience but challenging them to remain faithful throughout it all, rending their heart in the process.
God has done this in my life, by drawing me into deeper service whilst those around me got favored and blessed, he refused to allow me my negative attitudes and responses. I had to leave my personal feelings behind, disregarding how my heart was feeling at the time and continue ahead.
God did this with Abraham too, calling him from his homeland to a distant country, but requiring his extended family (Lot) to stay behind.
