Ready Steady Live

Daily Thoughts

Ecclesiastes 9:11 “…The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all”

Scripture often talks about God dealing us a measure of various things:

  • Gifts – We all have a measure of gifts, talents and abilities
  • Opportunities – God gives different chances to different people
  • Blessings – We all have a certain measure of blessing in life
  • Trials – We are all due to receive our fair share of trials in life

Given the ingredients of life, God charges us to glorify him and serve others with them. Really the value of our lives is not what we are given in the first place, but what we do with them. It is how we use those possessions, those opportunities, those circumstances and those gifts to honor God that brings everlasting value.

On the TV show ‘Ready Steady Cook’ the chefs have to cook the best meal they can given the mystery ingredients they receive. Their skill is shown in what they make of it all, not what they choose in the first place. They have no grounds for comparison either since each chef has to make something different. How can we compare all the time then when God has dealt such different measures to different people?

So whether you feel like you have been given top quality organic produce or just a sack of potatoes in life, God’s asking what you are going to do with them. Ready…steady…live!
