Getting God’s Attention #3 – SacrificeDaily Thoughts
Acts 7:55 “But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God”
Throughout scripture there were certain individuals who managed to capture the attention of God. 1 Peter 3:12 says “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayers…“. God gives his attention to those that are righteous, yet we know that righteousness comes through faith…and faith alone!
All throughout scripture the Son of God is pictured as sitting at the right hand of God, but Stephen saw him standing. Could it be that in the moment of Stephen’s greatest trial; being stoned for his faith, Jesus the Son of God would actually rise from his heavenly throne to give Stephen his full attention and respect?
Hebrews 11:4 “By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man…”
God does not abandon his children through their greatest trials and sacrifices. He gives them his full attention, his eyes remained fixed on them and his ears are attentive to their prayers. Sacrifices draw in the attention of God.
God loves a sacrificial person because it requires tremendous faith. All sacrifice demands a certain cost and risk. Tithing when you are short on money, serving when you are already run off your feet, following God’s call at the expense of a home or job. Take joy in taking sacrifices because sacrifices demand faith, and faith gets God’s attention!
