Getting God’s Attention #2 – Service

Daily Thoughts

Luke 6:13 “When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles”

Throughout scripture there were certain individuals who managed to capture the attention of God. 1 Peter 3:12 says “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayers…“. God gives his attention to those that are righteous, yet we know that righteousness comes through faith…and faith alone!

Jesus had many more disciples, probably even more than the seventy-two, yet he only chose twelve to be his apostles. You could imagine Jesus lining them all up against the wall, and like picking a footy team he selected twelve to be his dream-team.

What set these apart from all the others? Could it possibly have been the level of their faith? Could it have been their dedication to serve and follow Jesus at all costs?

Matthew 4:20 “At once they left their nets and followed him”

To leave your career, your livelihood and your security at the drop of a hat must have required some extraordinary faith. Could we instantly change circumstances and serve God at the word of his command? Would God pick us for his team?

It’s one thing to believe that you can influences others, or that your local church can help change lives…but do you show your faith through acts of service?

Do you have faith that get’s God’s attention?
