Gentle ReminderDaily Thoughts
Numbers 15:39 “You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the LORD…”
The Israelites were instructed to fasten tassels onto their garments to remind them of God’s commands. Following on from yesterdays blog; The Sabbath Principle, you may be left thinking:
“How do we maintain a level of focus to live presently obedient lives?”
Throughout the daily routines and demands of life, it is easy to lose track of God and slip into a more ‘natural’ behavior. It is good to have something in our lives that reminds us to stay obedient to God’s principles, that keeps us focused on him throughout the day.
- Start wearing a wristband, necklace or bracelet
- Jot down a key-word on your hand each day
- Pin a badge to your bag/coat
- Set an image to your phones lock-screen/background
This instruction about tassels comes right after the Sabbath-breaker is put to death (as mentioned yesterday), so possibly a practical solution to living presently obedient lives? Why not try to implement a practical solution in your life that will keep you reminded of God and his principles throughout the day?
“My son, keep your father’s commands
and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
Bind them upon your heart forever;
fasten them around your neck”
