Dreams & VisionsChurch & Relationships
Joel 2:28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions”
[DREAM = How it should be. VISION = How it will be.]
The role of the older generation is dreaming.
I am regularly inspired by the older folk at my church, whom after all their years still have so much Zeal for the Lord, even more than most. I find that their wisdom and spiritual balance in life cannot be compared to or equaled to that of the younger generation. Young people are famous for their extremes and energy, however older believers seem to have this great balance of all aspects of faith. They know what it means to live and trust in the Lord, they’ve had a lifetime of it. They know what it should look like and how it should be. They have the right perspective, they have the right dream.
The role of the younger generation is envisioning.
Alternatively, the younger generation is gifted in making things happen, bringing things into reality and defining how it will be; the role of envisioning. In the business world today and perhaps the church too, it is the younger generation who will bring the most change and development. They have the most energy and enthusiasm by far, quick to start and commence things, but perhaps not so great at finishing them.
The perfect combination is when the younger generation take the dreams of the older generation, and make it their vision! When the advice and wisdom of the old is put to work by the energy and enthusiasm of the young. When dreams become visions.
