Do not TouchDaily Thoughts
How do we live in the world but manage to not be a part of it? How do we live in a culture but not be conformed to it? We could get all legalistic and prevent physical interaction with things, not handling, not touching, not tasting, but Paul condemns that lifestyle. Instead of physically, those rules should become the attitude of our hearts!
Do not Cling to the Neutral.
The problem with living in such a materialistic world is that we soon become materialistic too if we are not careful. The Greek word used here means to lay hold of, fasten to or cling to. It is the action of holding something tightly because we value it so much. That is often the case with some of the things in our lives.
What do you love more than you should? Your car?…Your house?…Your phone?…Your gifts and talents?. These are the neutral things that God blesses us with, they neither bring life or take it away, and for that reason they should be held with an open hand. Ask yourself this question: “Would I give everything away if God told me to?”
Do Cling to the Presence of God.
Matthew 20:34 “Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him“. Instead of clinging to the material things in life that make you feel secure, cling to the presence of God, cling to Jesus. Start to touch and experience the presence of God and you will desire it more and more.
