Creation = Faith

Daily Thoughts

Hebrews 11:3 “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible”

Our Church Lifegroup started a new series of resources the other day; and the first topic was looking at Creation. There was plenty of discussion about how our views of the origin of the world shape our view of God. It became clear to us all that God’s Creation, both in the beginning and at present inspires faith in his people.

People can debate back and forth all day about theories of Creation. I’ve had my debates over my time and for my two-pence I personally have faith for the ‘young-earth’ Creation theory. Firstly because it is more challenging and exciting to believe in. Secondly because considering when ‘The Fall’ happened (~6000 years ago?) and consequently knowing there was no death before that event, an ‘old-earth’ theory doesn’t quite seem to fit.

But regardless of your view or theory, as long as it inspires faith in you, that’s all that is important. God has made it clear that “The righteous will live by faith” and that faith is the only way to live! It’s not about knowledge, it’s not about’s all about faith. Therefore if your view or theory depletes your faith then you need to choose something else to believe in!

God included in his account of Creation what he wanted to, all the necessary information is there. Not necessarily to provide scientific understanding but to inspire faith!

Romans 1:20 “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse”
