#Calling – Confirmation SignsCalling
Exodus 3:12 “And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain”
God was saying his sign of confirmation would come at the end of the journey, not at the start.
When seeking God’s will and the right direction we often wait for a spectacular sign of confirmation. A special coincidence or as some would say a ‘God-incidence’. No doubt these do occur, but often they have a different purpose in God’s eyes.
Exodus 3:19 “But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him”
How was God going to do it? God knew that by sending the 10 plagues, it would compel Pharaoh to let the Hebrews go. The 10 plagues were not intended to be signs of confirmation, as some would think, they were just God doing the job he said he would do.
This means that the Hebrews had to leave Egypt, not fully sure if it was God or not, because God had not confirmed that he had sent Moses. This means they had to do it in faith, they had to have courage and an attitude of “perhaps God will come through” like Jonathan did.
