#Calling – Be in the Right PlaceCalling
Scripture says that Moses led his flock of sheep to Horeb, the mountain of God, where he encounted God in the burning bush (Ex 3:1). Scripture also says that Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the Ark of God was, when he heard God speak to him (1 Sam 3:3).
Both of these are significant because both Moses and Samuel had made a conscious decision to get closer to God somehow, even if was just by their physical presence. So often we expect God to speak to us and lead us when we aren’t even trying to get closer to him.
You have to be in the right place to hear from God.
Our consciences need to be clear, our hearts need to be pure and our minds need to be focused on him. We need to be doing the right things, getting into the right place, prepared and eager to sense God’s leading.
In the case of Moses, it was not until he had actually gone over to the burning bush that God spoke to him. What if he hadn’t gone over? What if he was having a lazy day? What if he was too preoccupied with other things?.
