Anaïs Mutumba – Before the year is out

What are you asking God for? Does it seem impossible? Are others taunting you for the lack of certain things and opportunities in your life? Is your heart heavy?

In 1 Samuel 1:1-20, we meet Hannah. She is Elkanah’s first wife and she wanted a son more than anything but she was barren. Despite having special favour with her husband over his second wife Penninah, she still could not give him a son. This went on for years. She stopped eating and couldn’t stop crying but when her husband tried to comfort she did what we should do in times of trial – she ate, she pulled herself together and slipped away quietly to be with God. Too often when going through tough seasons in life, we opt to starve ourselves spiritually and make a scene of our problems. Don’t! God is your only answer – pull yourself together and walk in that conviction that He loves and cares for you.

“But her rival wife taunted her cruelly, rubbing it in and never letting her forget that God had not given her children. This went on year after year. Every time she went to the sanctuary of God she could expect to be taunted. Hannah was reduced to tears and had no appetite. Her husband Elkanah said, “Oh, Hannah, why are you crying? Why aren’t you eating? And why are you so upset? Am I not of more worth to you than ten sons?” So Hannah ate. Then she pulled herself together, slipped away quietly, and entered the sanctuary.”  1 Samuel 1:6-9 (MSG)

When we are faced with an impossible situation, when we go to God in our secret place, that is where we should give it all to God, whether that manifests in crying inconsolably like Hannah or not. Then, instead of picking it back up and carrying it with you, leave it there in God’s hands. It says that after Hannah prayed in 1 Samuel 1:18b (MSG), “Then she ate heartily, her face radiant.” You need to cultivate your faith to such a level where when you pray, you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is already at work. He HAS answered your prayer, He just needed you to ask and believe! Walk in that assurance rather than being swayed by how everything appears in the natural. I am always learning this principle more and more, particularly in 2012 and it adds another dimension to your walk with Him that cannot be bought. You are partners, the God who made the heavens and the earth cares about every intimate detail of your life and wants to daily bless you. Accept and receive that!

The next day, Hannah didn’t revert back to complaining or worrying about her situation.

“Up before dawn, they worshiped God and returned home to Ramah.” 1 Samuel 1:19a (MSG). Are you waning when your answer doesn’t come straight away? Like me, do you sometimes find yourself a day after praying sometimes complaining about your situation or over-analysing it? This is just another way to take it back out of God’s hands and carry it yourself again. If you have to remind yourself daily about His promises – do it, but leave it with Him! It’s all in His timing and maintaining a thankful spirit and an attitude full of faith is something that opens doors and commands heaven’s attention like nothing else! It goes where you can’t and works even while you sleep. “It is useless to get up early and stay up late in order to earn a living. God takes care of His own even while they sleep.” Psalm 127:2 (CEV)

“Before the year was out, Hannah had conceived and given birth to a son.” 1 Samuel 1:20 (MSG)

Before the year was out, Hannah had her miracle. We are living in a season where prayers are being answered more suddenly than ever before! Stick with the One who sees the end from the beginning, walk out on the water to Him and don’t let your storm sway you! You are more than a conqueror and God is your loving Father who really wants to give it all to you! If you find yourself lacking in faith and haven’t got the words then find worship songs that proclaim what you can’t and keep singing them until your soul believes it! Nurture a lifestyle of faith and trust me when I say that 2013 will be your best year yet and everywhere you look will be blessings and unmerited favour from the One who loves you the most!!

He WANTS to bless you! ! Wait for Him no matter what the reports or your friends say! Stop being like Job’s 3 friends to your own soul and spirit, second-guessing your situation and God’s timing and you’ll see that before the year is out you’ll not only have your miracles but a closer more intimate walk with God than ever before! Don’t give up!

“But God’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you. God takes the time to do everything right—everything. Those who wait around for him are the lucky ones.” Isaiah 30:18 (MSG)

“Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s Decree. “Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I’ll make everything right again for my people Israel: “They’ll rebuild their ruined cities. They’ll plant vineyards and drink good wine. They’ll work their gardens and eat fresh vegetables. And I’ll plant them, plant them on their own land. They’ll never again be uprooted from the land I’ve given them.” God, your God, says so.” Amos 9:13-15 (MSG)

“Change your posture. Arrest your emotions. You WILL go THROUGH this valley. You will not set up camp. Keep moving forward with dignity and a shout of praise on your lips. Change your posture to how you are on the mountaintop. For He is the God of the valley as much as He is the God of the mountaintop.” (Charlotte Gambill)
