Addicted to MinistryDaily Thoughts
Luke 10:40 “…Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
I once heard Craig Groeschel talk about how he was “Addicted to Ministry”, and thought “What a stupid statement!“. Here’s people listening to him who are struggling with all sorts of things, and here he was relating to them through an ‘addiction to Christian ministry’. “They are world’s apart” I thought…but how wrong I was!
Martha also showed something of an addiction to ministry. She held her service to Jesus higher than knowing Jesus himself, which Mary prioritized. Anyone with the desire to serve God and focus on ministry faces the danger of holding their service above their relationship with God. My ‘Daily Thoughts’ are just a fragment of the revelation God gives me.
Anything God related can become an unhealthy addiction, if done for the wrong motives; Church, service, worship, song-writing, Bible study and even prayer. You may find yourself wanting to pray for your future ‘spiritual success’ rather than just seeking God himself. I only know what my motives and reasons are for what I do;
