Our fasting (true ‘others focused’ fasting) brings about the faithfulness of God to set us free from our situations.
Fasting: Isaiah 58:6-7
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?”
The first stage to your freedom comes from being ‘others focused’, committing yourself and sacrificing to serve and love others. When we have a problem we all too easily become solely focused on our issue alone.
Faithfulness: Isaiah 58:8
“Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard”
Only after being others focused and serving the needs of other people, will go show faithfulness in your life. Your true fasting brings about the faithfulness of God to meet your needs. When you act on the behalf of others, God acts on the behalf of you.
Freedom Isaiah: 58:9
“Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I….”
God’s faithfulness brings freedom in your life. He desires to liberate you from your bondage and oppression. Notice how God’s faithfulness came before the request, his answer and liberation was already in store, ready to be accessed. God has already granted your healing, righteousness and freedom…you just need to claim it!
